I wouldn’t count Light. He was normal at the beginning. He became insane over the course of the show, as he became corrupted by the power he had. We are literally seeing him fall into madness; not bring out what was always there.
I kind of get it - Light was definitely getting more insane throughout the show, but even in episode one his first words were muttering about how humanity was lost and the world was rotten to the core. Everything that happened afterwards was simply because of Light getting the ability to act on those thoughts.
