I threw about 30 bucks in tokens

Dude, seriously check the subscription plans, unless you’re using your work tokens and they don’t mind.

My work pays about 100x as much per token as a $20/month subscription plan charges when you use all the subscription.

Oh I do pay for a subscription, just blew through my budget.

I have since moved to using mainly local models for everything. Running AI was why I was doing this PC build in the first place, just didn’t have it fully configured and I am wildly impatient when I get new stuff lol

I upped from the $20/month subscription to $200/month for a few months, it was pretty hard to run out of tokens on the $200/month plan - and have any life away from the keyboard at the same time.

I keep my copilot subscription intact because it’s nice having access to remote LLMs at times, especially when debugging issues around my local setup. Otherwise I’ve been able to offload nearly everything to my local models.

I’ve been using Strata with Qwen 3.8 Flash Next and have been pretty happy with the results

Claude has the remote control as well (now). While I was on the $200/month Claude plan and not going to use my whole week’s credit, we were waiting for some kind of theater show and the topic of Pinnochio came up, I asked Claude to make me an app that would add a Pinnochio nose to a photo on my phone - like 15 minutes later here’s an app that automatically puts the wooden nose overlay on a photo snapped by the phone camera, with ability to zoom and fine tune the nose placement, angle and length, share the modified photo via SMS or e-mail or whatever, etc. on my phone, entirely built from my phone interface, while waiting in the lobby - I think this was back around February or March of 2026.
