This is the wrong question to be asking. “Is the code good” is literally all that matters when writing software that others will use. Slop is slop no matter if it comes from a person or an LLM. A human should be reviewing all code.

I’m not against LLM generated code in FOSS but it’s nice to see a dev holding the line. There are a million distros to choose from, at least one needs to be 100% certified meat.

I’m no fan of slop but I’m not going to stab myself in the eyes to avoid looking at it. That’s what the slop wants me to do.

You are giving slop WAY too much power over your life, imo. Avoiding Linux entirely because you might accidentally touch some generated code is pathology.

What does that have to do with slop?

Please stop hyping up the power of text generators. LLMs aren’t predators with will of their own, they only have as much power as we are willing to cede to them.

The more afraid we are of slop doing something other than just being slop, the more power we are giving the companies (which are harmful) to actually control us. Don’t help them.

The biggest problem with a censorship proof decentralized social media platform is that the instances without moderation inevitably attract the sorts of people that get banned from everywhere else.

I did the exactly same for the same reason. I think Zorin is well made and great for someone who is not good with computer, but it is probably too simple for someone who is advanced enough to know what Linux is.

These days I recommend Kinoite or Bazzite for someone looking to ditch Windows; but they’re so similar the only question is if they’re planning on gaming with a controller.

For newbies ditching windows I like to recommend the Kinoite version of Fedora, it’s immutable and basically impossible to break, and apps are installed from the “app store” so it’s super easy for someone to understand.

Also KDE has just gotten really amazing lately!

The percentage of Proton subscribers who are also Linux users just HAS to be greater than any comparable service, right? This makes sense.

I have been extremely disappointed with the broader Linux ““community”” at times, but never Linux.

This was my exact journey, though I eventually landed on immutable Fedora with KDE. Zorin is a great OS but it’s in a weird space because it’s probably already too simple for anyone who knows what Linux is.

This is awesome I was just looking for something like this for Linux. PINCE did the job and came close but the community support around Cheat Engine is where is shines.

I’m confused, Omarchy is MIT licensed. It means you can use it and keep all the rights. You are under no obligation to financially or politically support the people who contribute code and they do not get a say with how you use the software.
