Yeah. That’s fair enough.
Both sides have merit. I get both angles tbh
Also, there would be ants everywhere in the vicinity after

Also, I grew up trying games like Unreal tournament on Linux.
At the time, I thought wine was stupid and would never catch up.
However we’re at the point that a lot of games already run better on Linux than windows even via wine… There are even more opportunities here in the future

Don’t compile it in then…
It’s literally that simple… but yeah, it is sync, you are correct
We could debate the advantage and disadvantages of a lot of things in the main kernel. There’s so much stuff in there that only benefits certain limited applications, and we could make the argument for userspace for almost everything, including a lot of filesystem drivers
Like it or not, wine and gaming is probably the biggest avenue where Linux is winning on the desktop at the moment (especially thanks to steam). We shouldn’t ignore it
I’ve been using Linux for at least 20+ years now. And seen a lot of stuff come and go.
A lot of distros are shipping with ntsync anyway, and, it’s something that will definitely get maintained

Except this is a scheduler issue from my understanding.
You can make the argument to put everything into user space, but it’s a performance issue.
One of the growing huge applications of linux these days is gaming, which depends hugely on performance, and almost every gamer out there is likely using wine (generally, without even realising it).

Depends. For games it’s usage is fairly common these days. It’s transparent in steam
It’s not perfect for apps but it does a surprisingly good job

Why? Lots of people are using wine.
That’s like saying we shouldn’t be including modules for reverse engineered hardware that only benefits that company

I used to sell them.
The reality is, Apple Succeeded by lying about their stability, people thought they couldn’t get viruses, and people wiling to overlook their f***-ups.
Here in Australia, a week before Boot camp was released, i actually showed a national sales manager how we got Windows running on a Mac mini, and told him how it would be a great transition technology. He basically tried to make me look like an idiot in front of customers in our showroom.
A week later, boot camp was released. The same guy returned, and was repeating all the same arguments I made a week ago, and was proud of them, acting like Apple’s was brilliant. I got no apology. I should have called him out at the time, burnt my bridges and demanded an apology.
The things Microsoft and Google did are honestly less bad than honestly. Apple blatantly lied about a lot of things, stood on stage and pretended like they had full rights to multitouch, and they had invented it.
In fact, Microsoft bailed out Apple in 1997, and the moment they started recovering, they treated Microsoft like crap

Better off going elsewhere for Linux.
Linux will always be a second class citizen for Apple.
I used to work for an apple reseller.
Apple devs were fairly normal people and were totally honest with us during developer training. I would happily have a beer with them
Some Apple sales managers were absolute cocks though. One of them treated me like an idiot one week in front of customers when I defended windows on Mac, and the next week, he was talking like he was a genius and repeated every argument I made the week before.
Apple talks lots of s*** about Linux. Absolutely don’t buy an Apple if you want a Linux system. The Asahi devs deserve a lot of respect though
