Guys its finally the year of the linux desktop

Yeah I’ve said it many times that NTFS’s allocation algorithm is total ass, and the only reason Microsoft never bothered to make a successor FS is because SSDs eliminated the need for avoiding fragmentation.

ext4, ufs, and apple’s FSs all do a vastly superior job on HDDs, with ext4 not even beginning to fragment until you hit like 95% drive capacity.

I’m too lazy to find it now, but one of the tests they tried long before NASA started sending people into space was eating a banana upside down where they figured out the digestive tract can function against gravity.

There was also an encyclopedia brown story about this in which I remember Geese and Ducks rely on gravity to swallow, therefore they wouldn’t be able to eat in space.

I had to resort to used SAS drives. Which is sad because that’s literally the only component that everyone universally suggests not go buy used.

At least mine came with a 1 year warranty, and the SMART tests look great for 50,000 powered on hours.
