I think they’d just rather not find out. Or, rather, would like to be as prepared as possible to “get away with” not implementing it, or will find some middle way.

The hardliners here will complain that they’re not saying “fuck you” to The Man forcefully enough. In reality, they do that just by existing. These guys are the backbone of digital sovereignty. If some of them fold and comply in advance, then yeah, fuck them in particular, but let the others cook. They’re fighting for survival, not engaging in fan service.

They’re being the adults in the room by seeking legal guidance and not prematurely putting their foot in their mouth. We must be patient. The penalties on some of these laws could be fatal, even to the biggest foss players.

My personal daily driver, a 14-year old Thinkpad w/ the same debian install for 10 of those years, runs 10x snappier, cooler and quieter than the MS surface IT at work gave me just 2 months ago. It’s also built like a tank and has a clicky keyboard and a sexy red nipple. I never have to think about how many tabs I have open, and it does everything I need it to, the first time, without unexplained delays.

The surface only runs kinda ok with constant policing of resources, absolutely everything non essential disabled at startup (including OneDrive, which I now have to run on an adhoc basis due to its performance impact) and also needs to be on top of a laptop cooler with fans to not overheat and shit itself, so it’s not even fully portable.

Intestinal flora is a common phrase in English, too. Or “gut flora”. It’s one of those old 19th century scientific phrases which has stuck around.

Like this, err, gentleman (who apparently wants to drag us back to that past) we used to believe gut bacteria to be plant-based. Science caught up, but the term has had sticking power. It seems to be a favorite of marketers of probiotic supplements.

“Microbiota” or just the straightforward “gut bacteria” would be more accurate and modern. But of course, everyone except for this guy already knows that.

Hope so. Personally I’m pulling for a modular jumpsuit as well. Most of it will come as one piece, so no more worrying about pants and tops as separate items which have to be coordinated and can get lost. Socks/gloves/masks etc would be optional but will just snap onto the main bodysuit piece. Everything will be interchangeable, standardized and spares can be purchased anywhere. Different weights for different climates etc, but it’s all one platform, like the AR-15 of clothing.
