I honestly think it would be much cooler if linux used semantic versioning instead of random versioning, but Linus bumping majors just because he feels like it is also funny and cool.


If you’re a GUI guy, catfish is good. If you’re a term guy, fzf, rg, fd are very fast and powerful. I search for files in / (meaning EVERYTHING) and tge results are there in less than 10 seconds.
This blog post has some example usages, read the entries for fzf, rg and fd.
I dont know how these work, but why do they never use kiosk for these? They boot up a whole operating system with everything just to loop a video?


I’m not sure but theres something in my mind bout MIT being the first suggested license for github.
and also, to be real, you need to do some reasearch and actually understand the GPL license if you want to use it for your project. But with MIT you can just slap it on there and forget. It’s convenient, but like a lot of conveniences, can be very bad.


I think a part of it may be that they are from the younger generation like myself, and most of them don’t really know the history of software and FOSS, and MIT is just a safe option for them. I think they haven’t really put in the time to read and undertstand the philosophy and logic behind FOSS and read the licenses and writings.


We like the Rust, we hate the cuck license. Simple.
Nano is for chemists maybe. Editing couple of lines and saving.
But vim is one of the most powerful text editors ever created. It’s so powerful and good that it gets ridiculous. Also, from an ergonomic standpoint, your body will thank you for using vim/neovim
