Ideally they could just stop using AI to generate both the text and practice problems.
Notice how every word in the second-to-last sentence of the first post is capitalized, and how a lack of capitalization is the default. This is to add emphasis and meaning in a way I can’t quite describe. Like there’s a big difference between referring to someone as “the boy” and “The Boy”, but I can’t explain it.
I don’t speak Tumblr dialect natively and therefore can’t explain it, but I do recognize it and can confirm that the capitalizations are done with explicit intent and meaning. None of them are random or accidental.
I have a celiac diagnosis now, but I had to diagnose myself online and fight to get tested. I don’t judge people who try to figure out their own healthcare because the system is happy to abandon them.
“Spiders can detect danger coming their way with an early-warning system called eyes.”
Really fantastic book. I did have some notes though. Firstly, if honeybees have such low dpi vision, how can they see each other dance? I assume it’s because they’re experiencing the dance some other way, but how? (Also it’s hella dark in there, isn’t it?)
He says many times that humanity’s umwelt is dominated by sight, but I very much disagree. To lose my hearing or sense of touch would make me feel quite blind, as I use them to perceive things outside my cone of vision constantly. Being in deep water is unnerving for this reason, because I can’t “see” what’s around me, and I have this whole new area below that I can’t hear either. So I have to wonder whether other people feel the way he does or whether my usage is more unique.
He really blew my mind when describing exafference and reafference because these things are reliant on a sense of self in the first place, which means that even the worm in his example must have some form of ego.
They overlap significantly. In addition to what’s seen in the image, the wolves’ territories will move around due to various conditions. There are no fixed lines that could be likened to states’ borders, only vague areas that can be likened to respecting personal space. Compare the wolves’ ranges with the white line indicating the national park border also seen in the image, which does not move around based on vibes.
