Interesting character this Higeruma, but it’s quite a leap from a lawyer with a sense of justice who finally snaps, to a sorcerer who’s capable of killing at least 20 other sorcerers.

It took a bit of scrolling, but his assistant Shizuma, doesn’t appear to be related to any other similar looking sorcerers: Nobara Kugisaki, and a younger Shoko Ieiri. It may be that’s just the way the mangaka draws some women.

As long as she’s been in show business, I’m surprised that Kana even got upset about this. She should be a lot more jaded.

Gotta generate enough drama to fill up an episode or 3 manga chapters somehow though.

If you put Ruby or MEM or Akane in the same situation, none of them wouldn’t seem nearly as vulnerable.

I’m guessing that something was lost in translation.

I believe I’m hearing her say “Sasuga no kishi daroo, watashi”

Which would translate as “Expecting a (white) knight, am I?”

That would fit in more of this scene’s theme of Kana declaring her independence from needing Aqua to comfort her.

By all rights, Yuki should have been dead, and at least 3 times over at that.

I am loving the art and direction in this though her plot armor was ridiculous in this episode.

I wonder if this was a realistic portrayal of how things go in Japan when a manager is given a sideways move that’s really a demotion?

As others have said, a pretty good episode!

Interesting characters are introduced, likely Demon Lord Boojum “how do you do fellow humans” Spriggan has a very interesting way of talking.

Xylo’s fiancee is interesting, annoying and dangerous at the same time. What a person to be betrothed to!

Dragon riding hero seemed a bit trope-y, but I did like Neely, the dragon.

The villain with the bandages, Shiji Bau, was pretty cool.

Why would you bring Tsav along if you don’t give him a sniping staff?

I liked the change to the formula: A nasty city adventure against tricky human enemies.

Awright, we’re back in the cars, even if it is “only” qualifying.

Qualifying is one of those weird things in racing, where it’s a necessary thing for safety, by not putting the fastest cars in the middle or back of the pack, to minimize dangerous overtaking;

And qualifying is also not necessarily the best way to measure which is the fastest car over the full length of the race, because they’re only measuring speed over a single lap.

Now what do I mean by that: For example, you can prepare special purpose single-use engines, tyres and other components to optimize this single qualifying lap. For example, you can swap in a lighter hollowed out engine block to save weight, or one that’s made of lighter materials and components that wouldn’t last the length of the full race, but will certainly do the job on a single lap.

Formula 1 has added rules over the years to stop teams from “cheating” in this manner, e.g. they changed the rules to disallow “qualifying engines” starting in 2004, forced teams to use the same engines for multiple races and qualifications, etc, etc. but teams keep coming up with new ways to get around the rules.

I’m not sure how MFG restricts its competitors, or maybe they put limits on by just not awarding a whole lot of prize money, so ridiculously expensive “creative engineering” isn’t worthwhile.

The highlights from the show in the end credits were cool though.

Having reusable cool looking transformation and attack sequences is nothing new, but having the main character’s face constantly covered by hair so they mostly don’t have to animate her eyes and mouth is a new one on me.
